Most episodes star Gene Autry, Champion and Pat Buttram! Sometimes Chill Wills or Alan Hale Jr. Most episodes are in black and white but there are some color episodes said to be
Filmed using CBS’ non-compatible color process which would later be rejected by the FCC. All episodes are half hour. In 1950, Autry became the first major movie star to use the
television medium. Always a man of vision, Autry excelled and for the next five years through his Flying A Pictures he produced and starred in 91 half-hour episodes of
The Gene Autry Show for CBS Television. There is always at least one song in each Gene Autry TV show episode. This is one of the best of the so called Kiddy Westerns!
This success lead him to produce such popular TV series as Annie Oakley, The Range Rider, Buffalo Bill Jr., The Adventures Of Champion as well as the first 39 episodes of Death Valley Days.
Originally airing from July 23, 1950 until August 7, 1956, and originally sponsored by Wrigley’s Doublemint chewing gum.
