Adam Naab is an honest, hard working rancher with a crew of good Cowboys. Judson Holderness is a thieving, conniving, murdering scoundrel with a bunch of cutthroats on his payroll. Naab send for a surveyor to settle his boundary lines, Jack Hare arrives and is intercepted by Holderness and his men, this sets a lot of wheels in motion for a showdown. Great story from Zane Grey. This is Randolph Scott's first starring roll and this is a great film. Sally Blane is also magnificent as are the rest of the cast with an outstanding performance by Big Boy Williams. Bill Cody started out in silent western movies and transitioned into talking pictures very well. He appeared in at least fifty movies and even had a small part in John Ford's Stagecoach starring John Wayne. An interesting note in this is Gabby seems to be driving the Nugget Nell car that he also drives in John Wayne's Rainbow Valley. Bob is great in this one and of course the magnificent Charles King displays greatness as well. Lots of adventure here. There is some great action in this classic western. An interesting side note is that Bob Steele was born Robert Adrian Bradbury Jr. born in Portland, Oregon, into a vaudeville family. His parents were Robert North Bradbury and the former Nieta Quinn. He had a twin brother, Bill, also an actor. After years of touring, the family settled in Hollywood in the late 1910s, where his father soon found work in the movies, first as an actor, later as a director. By 1920, Robert Bradbury hired Bob and his twin, Bill, as juvenile leads for a series of adventure movies titled The Adventures of Bill and Bob. Steele attended Glendale High School, but left before graduation. From 1932.
